Raphinha grabbed another in the second half while\u00a0Rodrygo\u00a0scored for Real.\n</p><p>Barcelona put in a clinical display to lift their first trophy in more than a year, having had no silverware to show for last season.\n</p><p>&ldquo;A goal for big clubs is always to win titles, that&rsquo;s why we work hard. But now we have to show it in the next games,&rdquo; Hansi Flick told a news conference after winning his first trophy as Bar\u00e7a coach.\n</p><p>&ldquo;Real made many mistakes, and we knew how to take advantage of them to control the match.&rdquo;\n</p><p>Barca prevented Madrid from winning their third title of the campaign, after they won the European Super Cup against\u00a0Atalanta\u00a0and beat\u00a0Mexico&rsquo;s Pachuca to the Intercontinental Cup last month.\n</p><p>&ldquo;In the first half we didn&rsquo;t play football, we hit long balls and that wasn&rsquo;t the idea,&rdquo; Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said.\n</p><p>&ldquo;I told the players that they can lose games, but not in the way we played in the first half.&rdquo;\n<section id='\"\"' class='\"InlinePhoto' story-margin>\n<figure class='\"Image' aspect-ratio--parent inlinephoto story-margin>\n<div class='\"RatioFrame' aspect-ratio--auto>\n<div class='\"Image__Wrapper' image__wrapper--relative><img decoding='\"async\"' class='\"\"' src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/a.espncdn.com%5C/photo%5C/2025%5C/0112%5C/r1437575_1296x729_16-9.jpg%5C%22" alt='\"\"' data-mptype='\"image\"'><figcaption class='\"Image__Caption\"'>Barcelona trounced Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercopa final on Sunday.<div class='\"Image__Citation\"'>\n<div class='\"Image__Citation__Credit\"'>\n\n\n<hr>\n\n<p>Mbapp\u00e9 earned an early advantage for the Spanish champions, finishing a solo run from around the halfway line with a shot inside the far post.\n</p><p>But what looked like a dream start quickly turned into a nightmare for Ancelotti&rsquo;s men when Yamal levelled for Barca in the 22nd minute. Striker Lewandowski gave them the lead 14 minutes later from a penalty awarded for\u00a0Eduardo Camavinga&rsquo;s foul on\u00a0Gavi.\n</p><p>Raphinha increased the advantage with a stunning header from a brilliant long cross by\u00a0Jules Kound\u00e9\u00a0in the 39th minute, and left back Balde added a fourth for Barca deep into stoppage time after nine minutes were added to the first half.\n</p><p>Yamal released Raphinha with a precise pass following Madrid&rsquo;s miserable corner kick, before the\u00a0Brazil\u00a0forward left the ball to Balde who scored with a simple finish.\n</p><p>Madrid started the second half with Rodrygo hitting the bar, sparking hopes of the hectic clash taking another turn.\n</p><p>But Raphinha quelled any sniff of a comeback when he made it 5-1 three minutes after the break, having slalomed past the Madrid defence.\n</p><p>Bar\u00e7a were left with 10 men when goalkeeper\u00a0Wojciech Szczesny\u00a0was sent off for fouling Mbapp\u00e9 in the 56th minute and Rodrygo beat substitute keeper\u00a0I\u00f1aki Pe\u00f1a\u00a0from the resulting free kick.\n</p><div data-box-type='\"fitt-adbox-incontent\"'>\n<div id='\"ad-slot-incontent-741826\"' class='\"Ad' ad--incontent__story ad--incontent ad-slot data-slot-type='\"incontent\"' data-slot-kvps='\"pos=incontent\"' data-resource-id='\"\"' data-google-query-id='\"CNC0x-fvlYwDFV2OrAIddY82NQ\"'>\n<div id='\"google_ads_iframe_\/21783347309\/espn.uk\/soccer\/report_3__container__\"'>\n\n\n<p>But Madrid, who hold a five-point advantage over Bar\u00e7a in LaLiga after 19 games, had no shots on goal after the penalty until Mbapp\u00e9&rsquo;s effort was denied by Pe\u00f1a in stoppage time.\n</p><p>Barcelona also lost defender\u00a0I\u00f1igo Mart\u00ednez\u00a0before the half-hour mark through injury, with\u00a0Ronald Ara\u00fajo\u00a0stepping in.\n</p><p>Madrid and Barcelona met in the competition&rsquo;s final for third consecutive time, with Ancelotti&rsquo;s side prevailing last year while Bar\u00e7a lifted the trophy in 2023.\n</p><p>Barcelona booked their spot in the final by winning 2-0 against current Spanish Cup holders Athletic Bilbao in the semifinals before Real beat last year&rsquo;s\u00a0Copa del Rey\u00a0finalists\u00a0Mallorca\u00a03-0.\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"</p><p>Laurens: Supercopa loss was unacceptable from Ancelotti Gab and Juls discuss why Real Madrid lost the Supercopa final against Barcelona.
