And today \u2013 less that two days after the Sussex\u2019s festive tribute was released \u2013 the Wales\u2019 have broken their silence.\n

\nFollowers of the story have been left wondering what the Wales\u2019 think\n

On Wednesday,\u00a0Harry\u00a0and\u00a0Meghan\u00a0continued their tradition of sending out an \u2018official\u2019\u00a0Christmas\u00a0card, which was\u00a0sent via email to all followers of and subscribers to their joint charity, the Archewell Foundation.\n

The move itself wasn\u2019t especially surprising \u2013 after all, since tying the knot in 2018,\u00a0the couple\u00a0has continued to send out annual seasonal wishes, with their cards often including a special snap from the year gone by.\n

In 2020, they shared their first Christmas card photo alongside son Archie, with the youngster seen standing with his parents outside of a playhouse donned with\u00a0festive\u00a0wreaths.\n

A year later, one of the couple holding their daughter (then-baby) Lilibet in the air was released.\n

The following two years, the couple opted not to include their children in the Christmas card, with 2022\u2019s and 2023\u2019s simply consisting of a photo of Meghan and Harry \u2013 with the move\u00a0supposedly prompted by security concerns.\n

This year, however, the Sussexes chose to do things a little bit differently by sending their 2024 card in the form of a collage, made up of images from their year together.\n

Several of the snaps were taken during their humanitarian endeavours overseas \u2013 including some from their August trip to\u00a0Colombia\u00a0\u2013 whilst one included the couple with their children, who were seen from behind running up to their parents.\n

The festive gesture also included a message, which read: \u201cOn behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, we wish you a very happy holiday season, and a joyful new year.\u201d\n

As we say, however, the layout of the card subsequently caused quite the stir online, with\u00a0one royal expert even accusing the couple of sensationally breaking royal protocol.\n

Grant Harrold \u2013 who previously served in Buckingham Palace as the official butler to Harry\u2019s father, King Charles III \u2013 told Tyla on behalf of\u00a0Slingo\u00a0yesterday: \u201cA traditional royal Christmas card we\u2019ve seen from the King or the Princess of Wales is normally just a photograph.\n

\u201cSince I\u2019ve been working with the Royal family, it\u2019s always been quite simple with one photograph. Harry and Meghan\u2019s card this year is very different. It\u2019s more of a montage.\u201d\n

Usually, William and Kate wait until the 25th to release their \u2018royal Christmas portraits\u2019, each one of which has also been a single image either with \u2013 or of \u2013 their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.\n

Concluding his viewers on Harry and Meghan\u2019s card, however, Grant added: \u201c[This] isn\u2019t the correct thing to do. It\u2019s not very Royal.\u201d\n

Following the blatant comparison to the Wales\u2019, followers of the controversy have had questions about William and Kate\u2019s stance.\n

And today, the future King and Queen \u2013 who the tabloid press claim have been \u2018at war\u2019 with the Sussexes since their resignation from royal duties and departure from the UK in 2020 \u2013 broke their silence on the matter.\n

In-keeping with royal practice, however, the pair chose not to speak about the card chaos directly, and in fact, they seem to have brushed straight over it, simply sharing an unrelated snap on Twitter (or X).\n

The official account of Kensington Palace \u2013 the Wales\u2019 royal residence \u2013 have since shared a video of soul musician Gregory Porter performing at the annual carol concert organised by Kate, which took place in Westminster Abbey earlier this month.\n

The artist had shared the original clip, captioning it, \u2018It was an honor to perform at The Princess of Wales\u2019 2024 Together at Christmas carol service. It was such a special evening. Thank you for having me @KensingtonRoyal\u2019, with the couple retweeting it.\n

William and Kate also shared the same video on their professional Instagram account.\n
