FC Bayern and\u00a0Robert Lewandowski\u00a0have been nominated for the 2021 Laureus World Sports Awards. The German record champions are in the category of\u00a0Laureus World Team of the Year, while Lewandowski in the category of\u00a0Laureus World Sportsman of the Year.\n

Chairman\u00a0Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: “We won the\u00a0Laureus World Team of the Year Award\u00a0back in 2014. It’s a great honour, particularly in view of the famous names who are nominated. The team and our coach Hansi Flick have earned this nomination.”\n\n\n\n\n\n

Robert Lewandowski: “I’ve worked hard for many years to achieve what I did in 2020. Now, being nominated for the Laureus Award is something special. Many thanks to the international sports media people who voted for me.”\n

The nomination came from over 1,000 representatives of the media from over 70 countries. In addition to FC Bayern and Lewandowski, other famous athletes and teams including Rafael Nadal, LeBron James, Lewis Hamilton and the Los Angeles Lakers are in the running for the gongs. Overall, there are 42 nominees across seven categories.
